Regulator 250

250 years ago, a group of farmers from North Carolina came together to form the Regulators. Fed up with high taxes and corrupt Royal officials, the Regulator Movement lasted for several years— ending with the hanging of six of its leaders right here in Hillsborough, NC.

This series commemorates the 250th anniversary of this movement with content from the Alliance, and our partners, that will immerse you in the history of this important chapter in Hillsborough, and North Carolina, history.

We hope you enjoy!

The Revolution Around the Regulators

See how the War of Regulation and the spirit of the Regulators factored into the American Revolution. The issues were different, but the courage and the resolve were the same. A new state and a new nation were born and forged through conflicting ideas about how best to make a new life a better life.

In this lively video presentation created for our pandemic-affected times, award-winning author and speaker Randell Jones shares this story using images of historical reenactors, artwork, and storytelling.
